A Robust Middle-Market Specialty High-Tech Manufacturing Company is currently seeking a strategic supply chain leader to manage their global state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.

ROLE OVERVIEW: This position reports to the Senior Executive of Global Operations of a specialty high-tech manufacturing operation.

(Global) Director of Supply Chain (“GDSC”) will initiate/coordinate with peers in sales (to provide detailed and accurate forecasting information which will result in improved scheduling), production (to manage demand and capacity), finance (to manage cash flow investment in inventory) and engineering (to influence and meet all specifications) to ensure a coordinated flow of materials to the production facility and through all production departments. GDSC will coach and provide guidance to the entire Supply Chain team on best practices in supply chain management, sourcing, purchasing and planning. Specific metrics which are the responsibility of the Director of Supply Chain include inventory investment (turns), on-time delivery (inbound from suppliers and outbound to customers) and component / supply cost.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

STRATEGY: Drop in a strategic supply chain operation. Establish professional strategic supply chain management system which will deliver strong ROI, provide detailed and accurate forecasting data, improve on time delivery, reduce inventory/working capital, and improve overall customer satisfaction. Drive supply chain management including: forecasting, sourcing, purchasing, warehousing/inventory (including raw material, physical inventory, vendor-held inventory, and on-time delivery), vendor/partner relationship negotiations and management, and planning.

OPERATIONS:   Own and lead Supply Chain and Supply Management. Create / Instill best practices and processes in supply chain management organization including: forecasting, sourcing, purchasing, warehousing/inventory (including raw material, physical inventory, vendor-held inventory, and on-time delivery), vendor/partner relationship negotiations and management, and planning. Establish measurable KPIs for monthly presentation and review.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT: Manage entire supply chain organization. Manage relationships internal /external stakeholders.   Hold entire supply chain team accountable. Embrace cross functional teams organization wide to achieve department and company goals and objectives.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT:   Recreate the culture of this supply chain and supply management organization from a regional to a global organization and from a standard supply chain group to a “best in class” strategic supply chain organization. Create and implement standardized procedures and processes for entire global supply chain and supply management organization.
COACHING / TEAM BUILDING / SUCCESSION PLANNING: Train up entire Supply Chain team into a “best in class” strategic supply chain organization. Motivate team to a high accountability performance level. Recruit/hire A-players who “fit” in a progressive, best-in-class strategic supply chain organization.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related Supply Management field.   Master’s or MBA preferred.
  • Proven strategic leader.
  • Bottom line financial performance mindset.
  • 10+ years upper-level supply chain experience required, including recent international scope.
    • Experience leading and developing a global supply chain team.
  • Change Management experience.
  • Proven top tier negotiation skills. Ability to influence others (internal/external).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Aggressive communicator up and down org structure.
  • Manufacturing sector experience strongly desired.
  • Construction sector experience strongly desired.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Skills required also include: MRP, MS Office Suite.
